Introduction
Kazakhstan is country located in Central Asia with a population of almost 18 million people. The Kazakh capital is a city called Astana, home to many universities and the President's residence. Formerly a part of the USSR, this country operates with both the Russian and Kazakh language. The ethnic majority of Kazakhstan is the Kazakh people, followed by Russians, and the Kazakh language is source of pride for much of the Kazakh community. English in Kazakhstan is a newer area of study with information about the phonetics of Kazakh English being studied more recently. Kazakhstan's economy is supported largely by oil companies in Central Asia and also works with NASA to launch astronauts into space via the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
